Operational Model: Helping Buyers Buy Smart
As an added value to customers and through a strategic partnership with top Boston-based consultative and investment firm The Lucas Group, Yancy Minerals provides each buyer, regardless of the shipment size, with a custom prepared and researched booklet demonstrating their buying history. This booklet is kept current to afford the buyer a contextual framework with which the fulfillment of specific needs can be strategically planned to exact the best possible outcome.
- Request for proposal (RFP) is received.
- A detailed historical profile is researched and prepared to identify buyer’s specific needs in terms of product, consumption, supplier history, geography, timetable, delivery and unloading capabilities.
- Buyer is matched with appropriate suppliers based on specific criteria outlined in the report, which includes historical demand and usage.
- More than just a sheet of numbers, the booklet profiles a buyer’s needs and identifies options.
- Booklet is maintained over time, with updated buyer history and supplier information.

Fulfillment (Domestic)
Whether we are shipping 10,000 tons of coal or 1 million tons, our commitment to ensuring a smooth delivery process is demonstrated by the care we take with each and every load.
- Feasibility of transaction is examined and framework for delivery is planned. For example, if a buyer is located in the Great Lakes region, shipment will arrive at a staging site and then be delivered to the buyer by truck load. Relationships are firmly established between Yancy Minerals and the Plant Managers at both the delivery and receiving ends of the transaction.
- Inspectors inspect load.
- Tracking and monitoring is done to ensure delivery is on time.
- Contact is made with receiving Plant Manager to ensure shipment arrived as expected.
- Contact is made with receiving Plant Manager again after several days to ensure product meets performance expectations.
- Contact is made with Buyer to ensure 100% satisfaction.
Fulfillment (International)
The steps for international fulfillment are much the same as for domestic. The principal considerations are:

To build trust and maintain credibility, Yancy Minerals establishes an escrow account into which payments for the shipments are made. The contract between the supplier and Yancy Minerals states that neither party shall receive payment from the third party issuing agent until the buyer has acknowledged the product functions as expected, thereby guaranteeing high quality product to the buyer, payment to the supplier and fair remuneration to Yancy Minerals. Suppliers have been pleasantly surprised and mightily pleased when Yancy Minerals, convinced of their integrity, arranges to have them paid in advance of the buyer’s report on product performance.
